Dictionary

Greenhouse gases

gases which pollute the atmosphere: vapour (H2O), carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrogen oxides (NOx), etc.; gases which damage the ozone layer: fluorine-hydrocarbons (HFC), perfluorine carbons (PFC), sulphur hexafluoride (SF6), etc.; they cause long-term warming of the atmosphere and the Earth.

Stripping

the elimination of volatile hydrocarbons from particular fractions with vapour, inert gas or by heating in order to reach the desired fraction quality.

Secondary processing

further processing of products which were produced by primary refining of crude oil (by atmospheric distillation); chemical processes which change the structure of hydrocarbon molecules, producing final products for the market.

Secondary methods

methods of depleting oil/petroleum reservoirs for the purpose of increasing the oil/petroleum recovery from the reservoir, when the reservoir has no longer enough energy to suppress oil/petroleum through the pore/inter-terrestrial space up to the well; additional energy is introduced into the reservoir by injecting water or natural gas.

Separator

container/vessel for separating particular phases (steam phase – liquid phase).
