Zagreb, April 4, 2024 – INA’s Green Belt program is entering its 12th season—more ambitious than ever. Applications for project funding open on April 4 and run through May 5. Eligible applicants include civil society organizations, public educational institutions (schools, kindergartens, universities), volunteer fire brigades, and nature parks aiming to green their corner of Croatia.
This year, special emphasis is placed on urban areas—where the need for green spaces is greatest—as well as on youth education, community empowerment, and innovative sustainability approaches.
At a time when many are asking what real change looks like, the Green Belt program offers a clear answer, backed by tangible results. Since its launch in 2014, nearly 165 projects across Croatia have received co-financing through the program, with a total investment exceeding EUR 485,000. The initiative has supported the creation of green pathways, the restoration of rest areas and playgrounds, and the cleanup of meadows, forests, seabeds, coastal areas, lakes, and rivers.
“Each year we witness impressive initiatives that combine education, volunteerism, and innovation—from tree planting to rainwater harvesting projects in schools. We are proud that INA is not just a sponsor, but an active participant in building more sustainable communities,” said Krešimir Katić, Director of Marketing Communications and Retail Partnering at INA.
Through the Green Belt program, over 25,000 seedlings—trees, flowers, and shrubs—have been planted on public and school grounds, greening more than 400,000 square meters of land. That’s equivalent to over 56 football fields.
On the official website, visitors can explore past projects, find detailed application guidelines, watch video reports, and—most importantly—submit their own greening initiatives. The entire application process is digital, fast, and accessible to all: associations, schools, scouts, and even smaller informal groups from local communities.
