Zagreb, February 16, 2022 – For the second year in a row, Croatia is hosting the World Rally Championship race. The WRC Croatia Rally 2022 will take place from 21 to 24 April, and the warm-up began in front of the INA administrative building in Zagreb, where the continued cooperation between INA and the race organizers was presented.

Last year’s WRC Croatia Rally 2021 was extremely successful. It gathered a large number of spectators by the tracks, and the tense finish, in which the winner was decided in the last corner, was broadcast on television in 150 countries around the world. That event strongly contributed to the image of Croatia as a top tourist and sports destination, and INA once again showed that it is a great friend of sports and a supporter of the communities in which it operates.

The company will once again be with this year’s world motoring spectacle, and the president of the INA Management Board, Sándor Fasimon, thanked the organizers: “INA is once again with the WRC Croatia Rally, which is not only a sporting event, but also a global spectacle closely connected with our industry. As a leading company on the market, we are a reliable partner not only for sports but also for the entire economy and for our customers, for whom we always go one step further and provide them with top-quality fuels, products and service. I wish everyone much success, especially our champion Viliam!”

With the support of INA, Viliam Prodan, a professional rally driver with more than 15 years of motoring career, will once again compete with the best. Last year, he won the title of Croatian champion and competed in the WRC Monte Carlo race in 2021. At the race in Croatia, he was unlucky with his car and had to give up due to a breakdown. “It is a great honor for me to drive again with the best as part of the WRC Croatia Rally. I especially want to thank INA for supporting me again this year. Now you need to roll up your sleeves, concentrate well and prepare the car for the rally. If everything goes well, I believe we can achieve a good position in our category!”

Last year’s arrival of the WRC in Croatia was declared the greatest success of Croatian motoring, and its re-inclusion in the schedule of the world championship is confirmation that the organizers did a good job. Daniel Šaškin, president of the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 organizing committee, thanked the partners who made this adrenaline-pumping spectacle possible: “With great pride and excitement, we are bringing one of the biggest sporting events to Croatia again, thanks to the support of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the City of Zagreb, counties, INA and other sponsors and partners. A lot of fantastic excitement awaits us for all generations. In addition to the performances of the world’s best rally drivers and the promotion of motor sports, we are especially happy that the images of our beautiful country will once again travel around the world!”

Marin Frčko, deputy president of the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 organizing committee, reflected on the successful cooperation with INA: “We are glad that INA, as one of the most important partners, was among the first to recognize the importance of this sporting event, which is among the top 20 most watched in the world and has a strong impact on the Croatian economy. In a way, INA is also a co-host, taking into account the space it has ceded for the service park. An unforgettable octane week awaits us, see you on 21 April at the start in Zagreb!”

Even Juraj Šebalj, the eleven-time champion of Croatia in rally and INA’s long-term ambassador, did not hide his excitement: “This is a great thing for Croatia and for motoring! The elite of the automotive world gathers in one place and we can learn a lot from each other. I expect that this year will be even better and that viewers will enjoy it. I, of course, support Viliam, but I wish all the luck to the other drivers as well because it won’t be easy!”

Attractive speed tests as part of the WRC Croatia Rally 2022 will be driven on a 300-kilometer route, this time in five Croatian counties – Zagreb, Karlovac, Krapinsko-zagorska, Primorsko-goranska and Varaždin. The warm-up for fans begins on 28 February at INA, which will organize a raffle for customers in which they will have the chance to win great prizes – two valuable Suzuki S-Cross cars and other attractive prizes. Lovers of adrenaline will soon be able to find exclusive commemorative souvenirs at selected INA retail outlets, and spectators will have the opportunity to refresh themselves with a rich offer from Fresh Corner houses that will be set up at some of the locations of the rally tracks.
